30 DAY PROJECT // Non-digital Type :: Pinewood Derby Car
:: A pinewood derby car Grace Marie and I made for the AIGA Detroit Pinewood Derby race! Pressed for time, we chose to focus on aesthetics over function. We designed a flip-able win/lose car, so that when we inevitably lost, our car could be flipped to the appropriate side.
Though we advanced by some miracle past the first round, as you can see in the following video, we were mercilessly crushed in the preceding two rounds..

TOOLS + RESOURCES // Phiculator
// The Phiculator is a handy little tool for making “golden ratio” based grids or hierarchies. If you are a designer and somehow have never heard of the Fibonacci sequence/golden ratio/golden section/golden mean/divine proportion, it may be time to hit the design history books. The golden ratio has been used throughout the history of design, including its more recent application to web design.
If you haven’t tried using it before, I highly suggest giving it a go. You can download the Mac OSX widget for free here.
